## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

A 2 October joint release from WHO, FAO, UNEP and WOAH reports that Pacific countries and regional partners used the second Pacific One Health Workshop to review progress since 2024 and identify priorities for governance, surveillance, risk assessment, pandemic preparedness, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, environmental integration and climate-related health risks. The release explicitly links current El Niño-driven drought and heat to heightened diarrhoeal-disease and malnutrition risk and emphasizes multisector coordination across governments, regional bodies and communities.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

The weak signal is institutional: One Health is becoming an operating architecture rather than only a conceptual frame in a climate-vulnerable region. If the coordination mechanisms persist, ecology, animal health and public health data may increasingly need to share surveillance and decision pathways.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

This is a joint institutional news release about a workshop and planned coordination, not an independent evaluation of implementation or health/ecological outcomes. Reported priorities and expected benefits should not be treated as demonstrated effectiveness.
