Evidence

Peer-reviewed observational invaded–uninvaded plot comparison

Geography

Lower Silesian Forests, southwestern Poland

System

Wet meadow restoration and soil-litter arthropods

## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Urbanowski and colleagues sampled 13 invaded and 13 uninvaded plots twice in 2024, identifying 2,502 mites from 71 taxa. Abundance and richness contrasts among treatments were not statistically significant; pooled assemblage structure, richness accumulation and soil/litter chemistry showed more nuanced associations.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

For wet-meadow invasion assessments, define multiple response metrics—plant dominance, litter chemistry, mite assemblage and recovery trajectory—and use paired reference plots rather than a single soil-fauna abundance total. No removal prescription follows from this study alone.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Observational correlations cannot isolate shrub effects from pre-existing soils and seasonal differences; the article's diversity results vary by metric and some post-hoc comparisons are null. No shrub removal or habitat restoration treatment was tested.
