## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Buma and a broad workshop group set out a 2026–2030 science strategy for FireSat based on three international workshops. The intended constellation targets roughly 80-m spatial and sub-hourly temporal coverage at full deployment, with explicit priorities for uncertainty, independent validation and integration with older fire datasets.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

If realized, shorter-lived cool fires and understory fire might become more observable, changing what managers can count and how fire disturbance is inferred. The development to watch is published calibration against known misses—not a launch announcement.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

This is a published capability plan, not independent validation that the proposed full constellation meets its future spatial, temporal or detection claims.
