Evidence

Peer-reviewed

Geography

Rio Doce State Park, Brazil

System

Large-carnivore temporal ecology

## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

A survey of 6,618 camera-trap nights found moderate activity overlap among jaguars, pumas and largely nocturnal ocelots, with distinctive overlap against recorded potential prey.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Predator communities can divide time as well as territory; add temporal data to assessments.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Temporal overlap does not prove diet, actual predation, or active avoidance; spatial interactions require separate testing.
