Evidence

Geography

Cerrado savanna, Brazil

System

Plant–herbivore interaction networks

## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Sampling 39 insect herbivore morphospecies on 24 plants, researchers found about twice the richness in nighttime versus daytime networks and strong rewiring among plant–insect links.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Survey hours change the ecological network an observer can see; comparable headline indices can hide changed interactions.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Local, limited sampling; similar abstract network properties do not demonstrate equal function.
