Evidence

Peer-reviewed

Geography

Semi-arid Iran

System

Restoration seeding; dormancy and abiotic stress

## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Researchers tested germination of Physorhynchus chamaerapistrum across temperature and salinity gradients. Germination was strongest in a moderate warm-temperature range and declined sharply under hotter alternating temperatures and elevated salinity.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Management read: screen seed lots against expected field temperature and soil electrical conductivity before specifying a restoration seeding window. Where feasible, sequence small on-site germination trials and monitor emergence rather than buying seed against calendar dates alone.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Laboratory germination is not field establishment. This is one species in controlled conditions, so results must not be generalized to other seed mixes, site moisture cycles, predation or soil biota.
