Evidence

Peer-reviewed

Geography

Thailand, village–agriculture–forest gradient

System

Mosquito community and human land use

## WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Wet- and dry-season collections across domestic, waste-disposal, orchard and forest sites recorded major differences in mosquito assemblages. Dumpsites had high overall abundance; Culex gelidus and Culex vishnui were among dominant species, with Aedes albopictus also detected.

## WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Site-specific waste management and edge habitat may matter in exposure mapping, but control plans require pathogen surveillance and species-specific ecology.

## CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Mosquito abundance is neither infection prevalence nor transmission risk. Site coverage, season and trap method constrain comparisons.
