WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS
A species-distribution modeling assessment classified climate suitability for selected Eucalyptus, Corymbia and Acacia planting sites across Ethiopia. The approach showed large differences in possible suitability under changing environmental conditions.
WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ
Planting plans should test local moisture regimes, species choice and climate trajectories; a planted hectare is not proof of future forest performance.
CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY
Climatic envelopes cannot establish actual productivity, fire or disease risk, invasiveness, water impacts, or long-term ecological appropriateness of nonnative plantation species.
