Seagrass credits remain estimates—not verified atmospheric offsets

WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

The LIFE SeaForest project combines sustainable moorings, boating-management measures and a digital interface with an ex-ante model of avoided seagrass-stock losses. Over ten years its modeled net potential exceeded 5,000 tonnes carbon-dioxide equivalent under the chosen baseline and project assumptions.

WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Carbon-project reporting should separate modeled avoided stock loss from credits actually issued and greenhouse-gas emissions independently measured. The conservation intervention may be useful even when the crediting claim remains conditional.

CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

This is potential scenario-based carbon stock accounting, not verified offsets or directly measured atmospheric mitigation; baseline and damage-assumption choices matter.
