WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

A January 2022 survey measured morphology, pests and cassava mosaic symptoms on 276 farms, sampling 30 plants per farm. Whitefly and grasshopper counts varied geographically, and disease-severity patterns differed by farm size.

WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ

Local planting-material networks and landscape context matter more than assuming a nationally uniform pest or cultivar profile.

CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY

Single seasonal snapshot; symptoms and farm associations cannot prove infection routes or a protective leaf trait.
