A reservoir paper's correction changed the size—not the direction—of its main signal
WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS
Authors corrected numerical errors in a 2026 analysis of regulated Afrotropical reservoirs. The season-and-month component of water-quality variation changed from 28.3% to 33.4%; the spatial share changed from 1.8% to 2.0%, and the modeled land-use share from 0.4% to 0.5%. Some climate-water-quality Granger relationships described in the original results did not appear in the corrected analyses and were replaced.
WHY IT MATTERS / OUR READ
The quiet signal is methodological: conclusions and management priorities can depend on revised model tables, not just a paper's headline. Evidence watches must follow formal corrections through figures, tables and text before reusing numerical findings.
CAVEATS / UNCERTAINTY
The correction retains temporal dominance, but it does not validate forecasts or establish climate causality. The error pertains to the original August 2026 paper; no claim is made here that our publication previously covered it.
